Judd 60, Die alignment III, name on base. Mintage figures were not precisely recorded for this desirable restrike, though the number is almost certainly less than a thousand pieces. A truly scarce pattern, proven so by the PCGS population reports listing just five examples between XF40 and 45. The example offered here represents a unique opportunity to obtain an ever popular Gobrecht dollar at a price point well under what this scarce pattern typically commands in the marketplace. Although cleaned, the piece exhibits a uniform gunmetal grey appearance, well detailed with apparent separation of liberty’s hair. The eagle displays excellent feather detail, with only minor loss in feather separation at the highest point of the eagle’s breast. Free of any deep large marks, or other forms of severe damage that often plague this issue in circulated grades such as holes, plugs, or repairs.
