Olevian Numismatic Rarities (ONR) buys, sells, and appraises rare coins, paper money, and precious metals products like gold, silver, and platinum. They also carry a wide array of safes, including burglary, fire, and gun safes, as well as a comprehensive selection of coin and currency supplies and accessories.
Shortly after entering medical school at the University of Pittsburgh, Dane C. Olevian made the decision to start his own coin business, Olevian Numismatic Rarities, in 2012. In late 2022, Olevian purchased a building in the Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh and spent a year extensively remodeling it to create a heigh-end numismatic gallery with expanded opening hours and product offerings. “We have endeavored to create transformative space that draws heavily on elements of the classic coin shop of yesterday, while infusing a modern vibe and contemporary amenities with an intention to more meaningfully engage the next generation of collectors and investors. At a time when many other dealers might consider closing coin shops rather than opening them, I made a calculated decision to go in the opposite direction, by creating a destination that collectors will visit, not because they have to, but because they want to.”

A large selection of collectible coins, paper money, bullion vintage stock and bond certificates, high-quality safes, and collecting supplies is available at the new store, with an inventory that exceeds the onsite offerings of any other coin or precious metals store in the greater Pittsburgh region. ONR also offers a wide array of on-site professional services that provide end-to-end solutions for their clients and business partners, including assistance with building coin and precious metals investment portfolios, professional appraisals for collections and estates, expert coin and paper money certification, secure storage of rare coin and bullion assets, and legal consultation services.

In addition to overseeing the operations of ONR and their new Pittsburgh storefront, Dane continues to practice medicine full-time as a gastrointestinal pathologist and Assistant Professor of Pathology at West Virginia University.
Aside from store and internet sales, ONR also runs a monthly local coin show in the South Hills of Pittsburgh and can be found at numerous other regional and national shows throughout the year, including the World’s Fair of Money, National Money Show, Florida United Numismatists Show, Whitman Baltimore Expo, and several others.
