1942-S 50c NGC MS66+. Most 1942 San Francisco half dollars suffer from weak strikes, often terribly so. The example offered here is a clear outlier. Beautiful silvery white surfaces are adorned by frosty swirling luster. Impressively well preserved, and, in our opinion, compares favorably to many examples of the same date and grade. While already a conditional rarity in MS66+, MS67 coins are very scarce and much more costly. This piece offers an optimal balance of price and quality, and is sure to look at home in a world class walking liberty half dollar set.
