CoinWeek recently reported that the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) released a companion app for its desktop site, http://www.PCGS.com/SetRegistry, the first free online tool developed to allow collectors to analyze coins and manage collections. The free app is compatible with iOS and Android phones and was released in conjunction with updates to the desktop site that increased the ease of mobile use.
The goal of the site updates and the app release is to better the experience and make it more convenient for users to manage their coin assets on the go and at home. Users will now be able to upload coin images and use the “What If” feature, which PCGS President, Don Willis, believes will be popular among users.
The mobile app allows users to upload images of coins and instantly add them to their collection by scanning the coin’s cert number if a PCGS TrueView image is available. The “What If” feature allows collectors to hypothetically add a coin to their collection to determine how that coin would affect the set’s overall ranking and grade.
The new app is intended to be used in combination with the desktop site for a full, improved experience. Its greatest benefit is that collectors can use it on the go, anywhere there is internet availability. With its easy-to- use interface and quick performance of functions, this app is sure to be an advantageous tool for collectors who need to manage collections away from home. The app can be downloaded through the Apple Store and Google Play.
