According to the Book of Genesis, God placed the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the divine Garden of Eden. The first man and woman were permitted to eat of any tree in the Garden except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. However, Adam and Eve did the contrary, and were expelled from the Garden of Eden. Thus, they lost immortality provided by the divine tree of life.
