On June 8, 2017 the United States Mint and National Park Service celebrated yet another quarter release in the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. The most recent park featured is Ozark National Scenic Riverways in Missouri with the reverse side depicting the Alley Mill, a steel roller mill dating back to 1894. The mill was used convert wheat into flour and much of the mill remains intact giving visitors to the park an opportunity to tour the mill.

At the event honoring the park, Mint Senior Advisor Michele Satchell stated, “Vital to the community here a century ago, the mill stands as a tribute to our ability to harness the power of the environment and reminds us of a way of life heavily shaped by the remote and rugged landscape in which it endured.”
She was joined onstage with Tom Akers, former NASA astronaut and the event’s master of ceremonies. The crowd was entertained by the award-winning blue-grass band and South Central Missouri’s own, Baker Family. Ron Sanders, an artist for the Mint’s Artistic Infusion Program and designer of the Ozark quarter was in attendance, as were many U.S Mint, National Park Service and state officials.

• Patricia Trap, Deputy Regional Director for the National Park Service
• Paul Fitzwater, Missouri State Representative, who represented Governor Eric Greitens

• Larry Johnson, Superintendent of Ozark National Scenic Riverways
• David Stokely, District Director, SW and South Central Missouri, who represented Senator Claire McCaskill, and
• Caroline Yielding, Field Representative for Southeast Missouri, who represented Senator Roy Blunt

At an event the previous evening, a forum for collectors was held and the bank exchanged $26,000 in quarters.
